What To Expect

What To Expect

WE UNDERSTAND THAT IT CAN BE A LITTLE INTIMIDATING to find your way around a new place. We promise you, you will find a friendly hospitable group of people to welcome you to our assemblies and worship services. We’re simple, down to earth folks from various walks of life. We look forward to meeting you at one of our gatherings throughout the week!

Join us for worship SUNDAYS at 10:30

Every week, the Perry Church of Christ offers a Sunday morning worship gathering at 10:30am. We believe there's something very special about being in a community of believers, a church family, to help encourage us all on our spiritual journey.

(See more about our worship service below)

SUNDAY BIBLE CLASSES

We also offer Sunday Bible classes that meet before our worship gathering at 9:30 am

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. It reveals everything we need to know, to know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. So we place a high value on study of Scripture.

At 9:30, we offer an adult bible class in the auditorium, as well as age segregated studies for Highschool and College students, Middle School aged children, Elementary aged children, as well as a baby class.

  What is WORSHIP like?

WORSHIP
The first thing you will probably notice is that there are no instruments. That’s not an accident. The earliest churches sang acapella. The word acapella literally means “as in the church” which gives us an indication of how the earliest Christians worshipped musically. We come from a rich heritage of vocal music that emphasizes simplicity, participation, and community.

We sing together. Everybody. God gave every worshipper the perfect instrument to praise Him musically, our hearts. Scripture says, “SING and make music in your hearts to the Lord.” (Eph. 5:19).

COMMUNION & OFFERING
Every Sunday, we celebrate Jesus death on the cross by partaking of Jesus’ body and blood represented with bread and grape juice. We call it communion, or the Lord’s Supper, some may call it the Eucharist.

Jesus told His disciples to “Remember Me.” Paul said that by partaking of these emblems, we “proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes” (I Corinthians 11:26).

We also take up a weekly offering to help advance God's Kingdom both locally and abroad. As a guest, you are not expected to make an offering. Offerings are made by our members as part of their commitment to God and the church.

PREACHING OF THE WORD

Every Sunday, you will hear a lesson presented from God’s word. We think you’ll find our preacher’s lessons are delivered in an up-beat and encouraging way. The goal of preaching is to “stir us up by way of reminder” (2 Peter 1:13).

Our preacher, Dan Chaney, is a pretty energetic guy. We think you’ll find his preaching style easy to listen to, easy to understand, and effective in motivating and encouraging us all to live a more Christ-like life.

What should I WEAR or BRING?

WHAT TO WEAR
On Sunday morning, you will see people dressed in a wide range of attire from jeans to dress clothes. We want everyone to feel at home. At the Perry Church of Christ, we care more about your heart than your clothes.

WHAT TO BRING

The main thing we’d love for you to bring is an open heart. If you have a Bible, we’d love for you to bring it. If you do not have a Bible, we will help provide you with one. You may even see some members using a Bible app on their phones or tablets.
